DR. EVELYN Johnston

Focussed on studying the stellar populations and star-formation histories of nearby galaxies in order to understand how galaxies evolve and how their morphologies transform throughout their lives.

ABOUT ME

I am an extragalactic astronomer at the Universidad Diego Portales in Santiago, Chile. My research focusses on understanding the evolution of galaxies and their morphological transformations through the stellar populations of their individual components, such as the bulges and discs.

I am the co-PI of the BUDDI-MaNGA project, and the Survey Operations Scientist for the SDSS-V Local Volume Mapper survey.

Projects

Many galaxies display clear bulges and discs, and understanding how these components form is a vital step towards understanding how the galaxy
